Meeting objective

I encountered someone who doesn't read email. I expected this manager to understand the problem by forwarding him the email trail. And i expected his subordinate ABC (since ABC has concern and ABC wanted a discussion and ABC wanted to invite his manager along to the discussion) to have let the manager understand better of the situation before entering the meeting hall.

It turn out badly from my perspective:-
1. Spending most time to make the manager understand the problem. Humiliated by the manager because i was not specifically answered his question.
2. ABC is not saying anything at all about his concern and throw the ball at people who arrange for the meeting.

So I learnt: -
Make people understand the motives of meeting and bring up the problem. Make them understand: WHAT is the PROBLEM/OBJECTIVE, WHAT is PROPOSED SOLUTION. Call each and make them understand and do not expect they understand..

Now i expecting some rumours getting out due to his messiest meeting. and I am the one to be blamed. No one will always defend you if you do not stand up yourself.

Lack of Motivation

Why not visit the new share portal.. 4shared.com. This is virus free. I had downloaded useful motivation in audio format. I find Tony Robbins work is fascinating. His work is about self help.

Then i came across an interesting subject "Make friends and influence others".. Its hours of listening... but has pointed out several good points. But a bit long winded with "so&so quote this and that.."

Language help

found that i need some add-on while i browse over the internet. and good to enhance understanding and vocab. here's something i downloaded today. Wikilook! Review: this is cool.. you can highlight any text on mozilla.. together with a CTRL button.. it'll define the highlighted text without you needing to refer the definition from a new window... It's clean.

Wikilook had somehow mismatching the text and definition. It is to me as if an advertising tool and bring user to misleading info. Babylon Word Search is good.. try it..https://addons.mozilla.org/af/firefox/addon/111151/

and to get pronounciation right... i downloaded the Pronounce 1.4 add on.. You just right click the highlighted word from your firefox browser and it'll pronounce it for you.. But only one word at a time.. Cool ..

Gmail in Microsoft Outlook 2002

I did the configuration to allow me to read Gmail in my Ms Outlook. THere;s so much advantages to use OUtlook -for instance: -
1. allow you to get info like when the recipient read your email
2. allow fast delete. Gmail in web browser's list is limited.

There's a tiny hiccup. I am getting an error message that when i am trying to move the email into one sub folder in my inbox. It says that i have to do this online. So i found the solution after searching the web.. It was a microsoft moderator who give a workable solution for this. It is because of the 'Work offline' under the file menu. You just have to uncheck it or if it is already uncheck - try to check and uncheck it later.

Life is so easy ... when you can delete all the junk mails with few clicks rather than the painful task using the internet browser

Better solution -neater menu for your website

Did you just bump into my site just because you had search for the term - free flash menu for website ? i spend several days (not 24 hours), but several attempts just to try out the free menu builder. Those free ones, they inserted an advert together with the SWF. Or some with watermarks until you decided to purchase it. To do it yourself, you will need some time.. but flash output is nice.

However, some browser without flash player, unable to view the SWF and usually take more time to load than usual HTML. I found a that There's simpler way to it. using CSS script.

Tested it and it worked and best of all it's foc. and this is one of the provider.. Nicely done. Thank you for this good stuff and i am sure a lot of people are benefiting from this. The edit can be easily done via frontpage and you just need to upload and viola..

I have a web project lies ahead.. i am lazy to begin doing it. i'll look at it again when i am better.. I'm sick now.. huhuhu

Free Flash Menu Builder

I spent whole afternoon trying to get a genuine free flash menu builder.. So far they are craps.. Now trying via http://download.cnet.com. At least it is less infected site for me to trial and error with the downloads..

I know a bit a bout menu creation. But just to lazy to do it for now. I rather get it done easier than to flip back all the tutorials.. feeling Lazy.

Cure constipation right away...

Prunes and Potassium works well for my daughter. She usually drinks diluted prune juice (sunsweet works better than del monte's). i guess the fiber contents does not help perhaps there's other ingredient in sunsweet that makes it work better.

Second method is to take 2 glass of honey in the morning (before breakfast or after breakfast). This honey contains potassium. I am now wondering if all honey contains potassium. This website suggests that potassium will work for constipation. by the way, highly recommended - the leabrook farm's honey

Tonsil infection

I had been down with tonsil infection. It was my first encounter. High fever and cold but with mild irritation to the throat. I witnessed myself the infection, it was like whitish wierd stuff hanging at both wall of my throat. Doctor recommended that I should remove it via operation if the illness occurs frequently. And i thought it sounded serious so i googled to get below info.

Mine is not so easily removed as this one in the video, so i guess my infection is not like the cheesy stuff mentioned by this fella.

btw, there's several article which said that tonsil like the below video causes foul smell.



I tried to remove it using cotton bud but it's sticking very tight like ingrown stuff. Doctor briefly explained tome that mind is sort of pus.

After administration of medicine,stronger antibiotics and painkiller pills, i finally got better.. Besides i do take some herbal drinks, which help the healing as well, my body was too heaty

then when you have done the installation, you'll be able to open any docx or xlsx or pptx with your existing microsoft office version.

That is better than upload to google docs and view in online. save more time...

Tea and period

Accidently, i have discovered that my problem of little blood discharge during period is solved by just drinking tea - Mayang, Boh or Lipton works for me.

But i was warned by my mom not to do so. Tea has cooling ingredient and may cause the body to lose excessive blood.

I did try to take chinese medicine before to see if my problem can be cured. The chinese physician commented that i have weak(cold) liver problem and also this is also link to my constipation problem.

But it was disturbing that my lady towel never get to wet each month. And i was getting brownish discharge during my period as a result of hair wash and stay in aircond. Chinese believe that during period, we are not supposed to wash hair. That contradicts with what english ed doctors said.

I googled if there's link between tea and period related problems. I found some eg. Parsley Tea (use to induce period), green tea (period irregularity), herbal tea (reduce menstrual cramps).

Lesson learnt

For the past 1 year plus, i have been forced by the monthly routine task to come out with something that can ease my work and reduce time spent as well as minimizing errors. I have learn a lesson today.

Macro in excel will not be as good as Ms Access. Ms Access is systematic database and can be incomparable to excel. Excel is convenient in terms of flexibility in formatting but there's no control whether the data entered is correct. to edit an error in Excel can be time consuming and always keep me lost!!! i am not a careful person when it comes to figures, you can imagine the time to warm up, edit, and recheck.

Scenario #1 (this is real experience when i had to deal with bunch of worker salary, and i need to distribute the salary to different project category. Meaning one worker salary can be distributed across project sites. and the number of sites per person can be like 20++). Access works perfectly, i just need to assign the staff to to different sites, and i can compute the salary ratio with ease.

I can do this with Excel, and i need to drag and drag, many manual work involved.

Scenario #2 (real too. I have to insert many conditions in to set of plan production data and output must be in accordance to the day limit. Conditions like, overall monthly limit, has to be able to start in same month and finish in same month, bla..., bla, customized monthly conditions... totally unpredictable. I did consider Excel Macro at first due to the unpredictable conditions for the past 1 year. I thought it could help, but editing is just too time consuming .. therefore, spent 1 weekend to solve the problem using Ms Access with defined constant and editing will be easier for my future work....

I'm so glad.. that i accomplish this with help of Ms Access, something i should have done earlier.

My lesson learnt: Ms Access is good for huge data (effort need to setup the relationship of tables), Ms Excel + Macro will help if dataset is minimal (relationship can be ignored).

It’s not always good to share experience with others when others don’t bother to share theirs to you… Why do you need to share this point of lesson learnt and get all the critics while others able to benefit from it and having a clean record always….  It appears that you are always the only one who is doing new mistakes.

 

But it’s hard for me… I find it a must to share.  This is why I am a little depressed whenever I made a mistake while other said, “yup I know this before, I thought you would know this too.” It is obvious that I don’t know before hand…

Born to be SuperManager

He is born to be super manager… I learnt a lesson today…

-          Other party’s fault, I am requesting his concern to cover up the mistake since I am babysitting this project.

 

Before requesting his opinion: -

Conclusion

 

1. He is deserved to be respected. He knows what happen and orders his men to work together to save the disaster
2. Indirectly he is pressuring me to take part to prevent this mistake in future.  I should double check when I get a customer request with others.
3. yup, I agree that this is the right corrective action but, right now, hard to ‘swallow’ this as I have no idea what is the other party doing…

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MROUND from Excel

Another just discovered built in function of Excel.

 

I think this is useful for all that works with figures… like myself, I am exploring this function when I try to create set of numbers with a multiple of a required figures.  Eg. To simulate data for production, your company will have minimum figure to start.  Eg. Might be a multiple of 100

 

So, to tell excel to create multiple of 100 figures upon your computation/eg. Proportions, you can use this formula.  It’s =MROUND (“calculations here”,100).

 

This is a helpful discovery for myself.  I am not sure if it’ll benefit you.

Thin Hair

I have thin hair problem and i don't know how to style it. I amazed with people who has great bangs and get to know that the fringe look that i admired is called the "sideswept bangs". I like this youtube clip, it's a quick fix.

VLOOKUP IN EXCEL

VLOOKUP is the most convenient EXCEL built-in function.  However, this is also the root cause of slowness in EXCEL where we need to wait for the auto-calculation to completes.

 

Seems like no constructive solution.  My practice is to off the auto-calculation before opening the problematic files (going to Tool > Option > Calculation > Manual Calculation). F9 when you want to re-calculate, and turning it ON again when finishes using the problematic files.

 

Another way, is to see whether we can substitute VLOOKUP with simpler excel functions.  Just no idea how to go about yet.  Arghhh…

Today i would like to express slight disappointment of online license renewal. Erm.. too bad the image are quite small to read.. Perhaps those who had experienced it would know better.

whoever that comes with e-services, e-gov website. Thumbs up and brilliant. But do think of what sorts of audience you are aiming at. People choose online service because they are busy or no transport or can't get any leave from their company. So, the main point - we should think of ways to make people's life easier.

OK.. Apala... why collection method under the e-services centre/pusat e-khidmat only ONE centre available? It says MyEG HQ (BANDAR UTAMA).. HARLOO... what about people staying out of BANDAR UTAMA... Since you haven't really got that much centres yet, why not lar ... offer cheaper delivery .... Klang VALLEY RM5, SEMENANJUNG RM6 and SABAH SARAWAK RM10. MAHU rompak kahh... OK... apparently... since delivery is expensive for me, the single choice whill be to proceed to any JPJ State brance office to upload renewal info to MyKad. hmmmmmmm... do you know where JPJ is in KUCHING... it's located in rural area la...

how to unprotect excel worksheet without knowing the PASSWORD.

 

I discover this during my attempts to get solution from the www.  There is a shortcut to this.

 

people likes to be protective, and that’s why they like to protect worksheet with password.  And sometimes, they didn’t realize that other people just need to get the content and to check it against another file.  

 

Here’s the excel error: The cell or chart you are trying to change is protected and therefore read-only.  To modify a protected cell or chart, first remove protection using the Unprotect Sheet command (Tools menu, Protection submenu).  You may be prompted for a password.

 

So what now, there is no way you can do so except knowing the password?

 

No! Where there’s a will there’s a way.

 

The solution is as simple as A-B-C. You just need to save the excel file as an older version eg. Microsoft Excel 4.0 Worksheet (*.xls)

 

This is indeed useful to me.  Hurray, now I know how to hack into the password protected worksheet, now I think it’s good to start explore how to open a protected excel file.

What if you thought you have helped someone, but in the end thing you screwed it up and the person whom you have helped act dunno and even said something hurt you even more.

What if you had to talk to someone who is MF and doesn't know the correct phone attitude and in that room, your conversation is heard by all?

What if someone you cared is in thirst and asking for water from you and what you can do is just hope that the driver would stop by any shop to buy a drink, in the end, had to wait all the way home just to get that sip.

I am a not very organized person. I’ve tried every method to be as organized possible, but just couldn’t sustain it.

Organizer book, doesn’t work for me because, it’s too manual and I get demotivated with this.  I’m not a secretary by nature.  I think this organizer is suitable for secretary-person.

I used to have a PDA.  It’s using the Ms Windows Mobile.  I think its reminder function is superb.  But due to the speaker, it’s now officially dumped but I really like the task reminder it has.  It’ll highlight to you 1 day in advance by displaying the things to do on the desktop of your phone.  It will later prompt the reminder when it’s getting near to the dateline with alarm.  I can’t find a similar but free application for my Nokia.  I was disappointed at this as I thought I should be able to get the freeware anywhere.  Now I have to settle down with the not-so-good built in reminder function by Nokia which I constantly, ignore by accident.

At work, I solve my problem of disorganization by having ms outlook calendar.  I would jot down things to do when it comes across my mind.  I think this tool is superb. I am able to sustain this practice for quite a while, for months and still feel ok with it.  Normally I will put down the things I plan to look into in certain days and if not finish, I will move it to next day. Easy to use and tidy looking.  Especially when you are about to go out of office, you can actually recall the KIV items to passdown to your backup.

By the way, Nokia’s built in reminder sucks.

I received this from a friend , and was so impressed, I  immediately  sent it to all my family & friends. This is just too good, and too important not to share. We all need to be more aware of our surroundings when operating a motor vehicle.
